| i'm so pissed and sad that another person was shot tonight in rochester... especially because the circumstances of his death could have totally been me or a friend of mine at the receiving end of the gun... a young guy, after going to the bars, went out to eat at a popular entertainment area in rochester - where he was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and was shot and killed... a convicted felon somehow got a gun and murdered this innocent bystander without any provocation... who DOES that?! http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070715/NEWS01/707150345/1002/NEWS i don't understand why gun violence is so prevalent in our society... what's wrong with america?

| When I was assigned to the PICU i was really disappointed. I thought I wouldn't get to do or see much and not be able to learn all the things I wanted to during my Peds rotation - my generally selfish mentality. But these little kids suffering from severe burns, cancer, shaken baby syndrome, and respiratory failure have reminded me about compassion and humility, while their families have shown me both what unconditional love looks like and what abandonment is. Most of all, i've learned what it means to distance yourself from your patients so you don't have a mental breakdown from the profound sadness and unfairness of life. |
